LeetCode has become an essential platform for software engineers to practice coding interview questions and showcase their skills to potential employers. As a site focused on algorithms and data structures, LeetCode provides an extensive database of questions for engineers to solve and discuss solutions with others in the community.
However, there may come a time when you decide you no longer want or need your LeetCode account. Whether you’ve found a job and don’t plan on interview prep for a while or feel like taking a break from the intensive problem-solving, deleting your LeetCode account allows you to step away completely.
In this post, I’ll share the straightforward steps to fully deactivate your account and erase your presence on LeetCode.
what is Leetcode?
LeetCode is more than just a coding practice platform—it’s a dynamic ecosystem fostering continuous learning and growth in computer science and software engineering. Whether you’re preparing for a job interview or aiming to enhance your programming skills, LeetCode offers valuable resources to support your journey.
How to Delete a Leetcode Account
Here’s how to delete your LeetCode account:
- Go to leetcode.com.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Help Center” option.
- In the Help Center, click on “Submit a Request” in the top right corner.
- You’ll be directed to a form where you’ll need to provide some information:
- In the “Subject” field, select “Delete my account” from the dropdown menu.
- For “Ticket Type,” choose “Delete account request.”
- In the “Description” box, provide your personal information and your LeetCode username. Additionally, explain the reasons why you want to delete your account.
- If you were a premium member, make sure to check the box indicating so.
- Finally, click the “Submit” button to send your account deletion request.
And that’s it! Your request will be processed, and your LeetCode account will be deleted accordingly. Remember, this action is irreversible, so be sure that this is what you want before proceeding.
How to reset your Leetcode account?
LeetCode offers the flexibility of having multiple sessions, which is pretty cool. Each session tracks your progress separately, so you can start fresh whenever you want.
If you’re interested in starting a new session, here’s what you do:
- Click on the “Sessions” tab in the top right corner.
- Select “New Session” from the dropdown menu.
- Give your new session a name (I’ll call mine “Test New Session”) and hit “Create.”
That’s it! Your new session is ready to go. Now, when you go back to the problems tab, you’ll see that none of the questions have check marks next to them, indicating a brand new practice session.
And if you ever want to delete a session, it’s just as easy:
- Click on the session you want to delete.
- Click the pencil icon to rename it if you’d like.
- Click the “X” to delete the session.
And poof! It’s gone.
LeetCode’s ability to manage sessions like this is pretty slick, but it makes sense considering they’re all about coding practice. It’s just one of the many features that make LeetCode such a valuable tool for sharpening your coding skills.
FAQs
What happens to deleting account data and history?
When you request to delete your LeetCode account, all of your personal data and history will be removed from LeetCode servers. This includes your submitted solutions, discussion posts, contest participation, and profile details. The process is designed to completely erase your presence and activity from the platform. However, some statistical site data aggregated from your submissions may still remain.
What does LeetCode test for?
LeetCode helps software engineers practice and prepare for technical coding interviews. The platform tests your skills in algorithms, data structures, and language proficiency by solving programming problems of varying difficulty levels. Companies will often use LeetCode interview questions to evaluate your coding and problem-solving abilities for developer roles.
Is LeetCode free?
LeetCode offers limited free access to the question database including problems, solutions, contests, and community features. Upgrading to a paid monthly subscription gets you access to all questions, increased submission and contest entry limits, personal progress analytics, and other premium features.
Is LeetCode better than HackerRank?
LeetCode and HackerRank are both excellent platforms for practicing coding interviews, often used together for balanced preparation. LeetCode offers a larger library of system design and algorithm questions while HackerRank has more questions testing language proficiency. LeetCode also has a bigger community for discussion and solution approaches. However, both are extremely useful depending on what areas or skills you want to improve for interviews.
