A “bump” is a small, raised area on the surface of the skin. It may be filled with pus, blood, or other fluids. Bumps can occur anywhere on the body, but they are most common on the face, scalp, chest, and back. Most bumps are harmless and will go away on their own. However, some bumps may be a sign of a more serious condition.
